Artificial Intelligence has become well-known for its ability to deceive.
One of the better-known areas of this is where students submit papers supposedly written by themselves, but in fact they were written by AI. The papers are so well done that teachers have a hard time telling which is which. It is old news that AI can write stories and music and conduct intelligent conversations with humans.
Recently, there was news about a lawyer who researched a test case to use as evidence in a lawsuit. It was not until he presented it in court that it was discovered to be fictitious. The whole thing was made up by Machine Intelligence.
My question is with existing wide-spread hacking of computers and all kinds of electronic systems, how long can we trust what shows up on our cellphones and laptop Bibles?
Serious questions are already being asked about the ability of Artificial Intelligence to start its own religion. Even if it never does, an easy way to meddle with our faith would be to hack into the Bible app on our phones.
Would we be alert enough to notice carefully altered passages?
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our real struggle is not with humans but with the spiritual forces of evil. II Corinthians 11:14 says that Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
Who knows? There may come a time when it is said, “A Bible in the hand is worth two in The Cloud.”
