AI has started to change healthcare, online shopping, fashion, agriculture, and (of course) gaming.
Artificial Intelligence: The use of computers and machines to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence and thought.
For all the gaming fans out there, this is something to be hyped about. Over the coming years, AI is going to make gaming more fun, exciting, and realistic. You can’t ask for much more!
There are hundreds of different online gaming genres that people love.
One of the most popular genres at this moment in time is the online gambling genre. Within this genre, online casinos are the crowd favorite.
Naturally your typical real money online casino constantly changes and updates its odds, whether a person is playing online slots or video poker. It’s thanks to AI that the odds can be updated so efficiently, meaning there’s very little need for human input.
The same applies to sports betting. For decades, most sportsbooks were reliant on human research and analysis. However, now that AI has arrived on the scene, they can produce AI-predicted odds, providing the players with a much more modern experience.
By now, you’ve probably heard the term ‘NPC.’
NPC stands for non-playable character. These are the characters in a video game that aren’t controlled by other players, such as the pedestrians you encounter in any GTA game.
Due to major advancements in AI, NPCs are now becoming scarily realistic. They’ve been coded in such a way that they can talk and interact with you just like a real human being would.
Years ago, NPCs were incredibly basic. No matter which game you were playing, whether it was a first-person shooter or adventure RPG, interacting with NPCs was basically impossible. Now, though, you can have full-blown conversations with them, such as in games like GTA V.
Gaming exists purely for entertainment purposes. Sometimes, though, it can get a little out of hand.
For example, if somebody opens a popular mobile game that comes with in-app purchases (also known as ‘DLC’) and starts to make reckless purchases without stopping, then AI can pick up on this. Usually, the player will be provided with a cautionary message letting them know that they’re spending too much money on the in-app content, whether it’s additional maps or bonus weapons.
Most online video game stores – such as the PlayStation Store – use AI intelligence to make predictions on which games you’ll like and purchase.
The way this works is simple: the AI gathers data surrounding your previous purchases, playing history, and more. From this data, it can then provide you with suggested purchases based on what it thinks you’ll be likely to buy. Not only is this great for you (the player), but it’s also great for the gaming companies, as it means they experience more sales.
AI will dominate gaming (as well as human life more broadly) for the next 100 years. It’s something to be excited about, so make sure to keep tabs on all the latest AI trends in the gaming industry. Happy gaming!
