NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — In Wilmington at Cape Fear Community College, one instructor shared with his students that artificial intelligence may be the new norm, even in education.
Nelson Beaulieu is an American Government instructor at CFCC.
His students are currently learning both the pros and cons of artificial intelligence.
He said while A.I. can be harmful, it can also be helpful, teaching students to detect fake information and learn valuable research components.
Beaulieu said with new information comes new technology and maybe instructors should learn how to work with it rather than to fight against it.
“As educators we have to find a way to adapt to that new normal and to use it to improve our students’ academic experience,” Beaulieu said.
Beaulieu said instructors have to be innovative with what they bring to the classroom and sometimes that opportunity is presented by changing circumstances, like artificial intelligence.
